CHESTER, Pa. – Not even a weather delay could stop the Haverford College women's soccer team from winning its fifth straight match on Wednesday night as the Fords rolled to a 3-0 win at Widener. The Fords (5-2) have now conceded just two goals during this winning streak following tonight's shutout victory over the Pride (2-3-2). Haverford has now won at least five straight matches during six of head coach Jamie Schneck's seasons as head coach. The most recent occasion before this season came during the 2016 campaign.

After lightning in the area temporarily suspended the game midway through the opening half, Haverford came back even stronger following the break. Each of the Fords' goals came after that delay with Kendra Griesman scoring in the remaining time of the opening half. Abby Singer and Mia Reyes added goals in the second half for the 3-0 final.

Haverford finished its night with a 13-3 advantage in shots, scoring on half of the team's six shots on goal. The Fords also earned the only three corner kick opportunities of the night. The two sides each had a pair of shot attempts during the first 20 minutes of game action, but Haverford would soon impose its will on the flow of the game with three straight shots before the storms rolled in.

Hannah Krapes and Mathis both saw their shot attempts saved before the lightning. Nevertheless, Griesman solved the Pride defense shortly after the delay as she took a pass from Grace Mathis and finished to the far post from outside of the 18. Her third goal of the season ties her for the team lead. Mathis was credited with her fourth assist of the season and now has a team-high 10 points. Mathis has recorded an offensive point during four of Haverford's last five victories.

The Fords added their insurance tallies during the 72nd and 77th minutes of regulation. Singer made it 2-0 as she volleyed home a nifty pass from Gabrielle Cipriano. Singer's goal was the first of her career, while Cipriano's helper was also the first of her career. Cipriano, a first year, scored her first career goal in the win against Franklin & Marshall this past weekend.

With less than five minutes between goals, Reyes made it 3-0 with under 14 minutes remaining. Her third goal of the season also ties her for the team lead with Griesman and Mathis. Reyes' goal also came from outside of the 18. Marina Piccolo put her in position to score as her pass helped her record the second assist of her sophomore campaign.

Dealing with the slick field conditions, Ali Weiner stopped the only shot the Pride put on target during the opening half as part of her eighth career combined shutout. Hannah Friedrich went untested during the second half in goal. Maryanna Solecki and Sydney West each had three shots to lead the Fords in that department.

Women's soccer will be back on the road this weekend as the Fords travel to Baltimore for another night game. This time, they will play No. 6 Johns Hopkins in a scheduled 8 p.m. start.
