Five Named All-Centennial Conference for Women's Soccer

Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team placed five of its student-athletes on the All-Centennial Conference team. Those five recipients trail only the six award winners the Fords had during the 2004 and 2011 seasons dating back to the inception of the Centennial Conference in 1993.

Katie Safter wrapped up her decorated playing career as a four-time All-Centennial Conference performer for the Fords. The senior co-captain earned her first selection as a first-team honoree this fall after leading the team in goals (5), points (13), shots (38), and shots on goal (19) from the midfield, while adding three more assists. She scored four of her five goals against Centennial Conference foes. Safter recorded a three-point afternoon with a goal and an assist against McDaniel and also tallied the game-winner against Washington College. She also found the back of the net against Tri-Co neighbors Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore. In addition to her athletic achievements, Safter was named the Centennial Conference's All-Sportsmanship Team.

Kendra Griesman earned the second All-Centennial Conference selection of her career with honorable mention honors. A second-team All-CC pick as a first-year, Griesman made her impact felt during her return to the Fords' lineup this fall as she finished the season with three goals and three assists. Griesman scored the game-winning goals against St. Mary's (Md.) and Widener, while setting up the game-winner against Eastern. She also recorded assists against Bryn Mawr and Dickinson during Haverford's Centennial Conference slate and was vital to much of the Fords' defensive efforts this season.

Leanne Ludwick earned her first selection to the all-conference team as an honorable mention selection. Ludwick scored the game-winning goal against Centennial Conference foes Muhlenberg and Bryn Mawr during the conference schedule. Her overtime winner against Bi-Co neighbor Bryn Mawr came during a three-point afternoon. She also scored Haverford's go-ahead goal during the eventual draw against then-undefeated Scranton.

Senior Sydney West earned the first All-CC inclusion of her career, taking home honorable mention accolades. West ranked second on the team with 12 points as she tied for second on the team with four goals and four assists. She recorded three-point days against Bryn Mawr and Ursinus, setting up the game-winning goals during both of those Centennial Conference victories. Additionally, West scored the game-winning goal against Franklin & Marshall, while also finding the back of the net against McDaniel.

Junior co-captain Lindsay Wytkind was the third Ford to earn her first All-Centennial Conference nod with honorable mention laurels from her center back position. Wytkind was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week after helping Haverford's defense post back-to-back shutouts in key Centennial Conference clashes against Ursinus and Gettysburg. The Haverford defense posted seven shutouts overall and limited opponents to less than one goal per contest. Opponents averaged less than 2.5 shots on goal per contest with Wytkind and the rest of Haverford's defense stopping all comers.

Women's soccer made the Centennial Conference Tournament for the third straight season in 2018, marking the program's 12 postseason appearance of the past 14 years. The Fords went 8-6-3 overall, with a 5-3-2 record in Centennial Conference play.
