HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team handed visiting Widener its first loss of the 2019 season Saturday afternoon as the Fords (4-1) scored three times during the opening half in a 3-0 victory over the Pride (5-1). Haverford has now won four straight matches and has recorded a shutout during each of those last three victories.

Jaclyn Corbin and Celia Page both starred offensively in the match for the Fords as they each recorded a goal and an assist during the win. Leanne Ludwick got the scoring started with her sixth goal of the season. The Fords finished the game with a commanding 14-1 advantage in shots, including a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal.

Ludwick got her team onto the scoreboard just over 16 minutes into the contest as she took a pass from Page. With a nifty first touch, Ludwick was around her defender and in a 1v1 situation with the goalie. The senior co-captain made the most of that chance as she scored her sixth goal of the season. Ludwick has now registered at least one goal in each of Haverford's victories over this four-match winning streak. She now has two game-winning goals this season and ranks 15th in school history with her 15 career goals.

Corbin had a very strong showing for the Fords off the bench as she subbed in during the 22nd minute of play and found the back of the net just over a minute later. Eifrig put that play in motion on a free kick just outside of the 18 following a Widener foul. Corbin was able to fight her way through traffic and finish that cross. Corbin also scored against Scranton to help jumpstart Haverford's winning streak. Her later assist gave the sophomore a career-best three points on the afternoon. With the assist on Corbin's goal, Eifrig now has four helpers on the young season which is already a career high for the Haverford junior.

After both played a role in the opening goals, Corbin and Page connected for the final tally of the afternoon. Corbin was able to step up and intercept a pass from Widener's defense to catch the Pride in transition. From there, she found Page out wide for the first-year's second tally of the season. Page now has three goals in three straight matches.

Haverford did not allow a single shot from Widener during the opening 45 minutes and it was only a weak header that went wide of the goal following a corner kick opportunity in the second half that kept the Pride from being held without a shot all afternoon. Haverford put three more shots on target during the second half, but was not able to add to its total. Ludwick was denied her second consecutive multi-goal contest early in the second half as her shot took an unfortunate bounce off the post and out of harm's way. Hannah Friedrich collected her second solo shutout of the season behind a very sound back line for the Fords.

Women's soccer will continue its four-match home stand with two more contests next week. The Fords will first battle Immaculata this coming Tuesday in a 4:30 p.m. match on Walton Field. Haverford will also take on Alvernia next Saturday at 1 p.m. in the final match before Centennial Conference play opens up against Muhlenberg on Wednesday, September 25.
