HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team is unbeaten in its last nine matches and the national raters have taken notice as the Fords are now receiving votes in this week's D3Soccer.com Top 25 national poll. Haverford (8-1-1, 2-0-1 CC) picked up seven votes in this week's national poll, matching the total of Wartburg and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
During the Fords' most recent outing, they were able to strike first against then-No. 5 Johns Hopkins before securing a key Centennial Conference point with a 1-1 draw on Walton Field. That result followed Haverford's program-record eight-match winning streak which also saw the Fords rack up a school-record seven consecutive shutouts.
In addition to setting the program record for consecutive wins, the Fords' nine-match unbeaten streak ranks fifth all-time in program history. Haverford first went unbeaten in 15 straight matches during the 2004 season before more recently accomplishing that feat over the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
Haverford recorded shutout victories against both Muhlenberg and Franklin & Marshall to start the Centennial Conference slate. The Centennial Conference once again continues to shine as one of the top conferences in all of Division III as a total of six CC teams received votes in this week's national poll. Johns Hopkins (No. 7), Dickinson (No. 18), Swarthmore (No. 23), and Gettysburg (No. 25) are all inside the D3Soccer.com Top 25 while McDaniel is receiving one more vote than the Fords coming into the week.
Outside of the tie with Johns Hopkins, the Fords will have several more opportunities to impress the national raters as they have not yet played any of the other aforementioned Centennial Conference foes listed in this week's release.
Women's soccer is slated for two matches this week. The first chance will come tonight as Haverford travels to Ursinus for a 7 p.m. match under the lights of Collegeville. The Fords will also be on the road this Saturday as they travel to Gettysburg for a 1 p.m. start.
