HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team played Washington College to a scoreless draw on Thursday afternoon. The Fords (10-1-2, 4-0-2 CC) and Shorewomen (4-6-3, 1-4-2 CC) both had opportunities before both teams concluded the contest with dueling shutouts.

Instead of the downpour in which they would have played in yesterday, the teams competed today against a very gusty wind. Haverford had the wind at its backs in the first half and the first overtime as it recorded seven of the team's shot attempts during that time.

Washington College goalie Annalie Buscarino made four saves to preserve her half of the shutout bid. Celia Page led the Fords with four shots on the day and saw two of her shots on goal saved during the opening half. Even with the wind in its face, Haverford controlled the second overtime, but two more saves from Buscarino against Karlie Pollock and Alyssa Saito kept the Fords scoreless.

Haverford also earned a penalty kick during the first overtime session but missed wide of frame as the two teams played on. The Shorewomen had their best chance of the afternoon during the 81st minute of play but sent the potential go-ahead goal wide with a chance to end the game in regulation. Washington College also earned a corner early in the first overtime, but a backline clear from the Haverford defense kept the contest alive as the ball skipped around in the box.

The Fords finished the contest with a 13-6 edge in shots and 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Haverford's shutout was the team's ninth this season. Although the Fords did extend their unbeaten streak to 12 straight matches overall, it was the first time since the season opener in which Haverford could not find the back of the net.

With today's result, Haverford is now tied for second place in the Centennial Conference standings with Dickinson. The Fords trail first-place McDaniel by just a single point heading into this Saturday's showdown which is set to kick off at noon on Walton Field.
