United Soccer Coaches rankings
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's soccer team is receiving votes in both the D3Soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches national polls for the fifth straight week. The Fords are sixth among the teams that listed as receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll and earned six voting points in the D3Soccer.com poll.
Women's soccer finished the regular season with a 12-3-2 record, including a 6-2-2 mark in Centennial Conference action. Those 20 points in conference matches earned the Fords the No. 3 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament which begins this week. Haverford will battle second-seeded Johns Hopkins in the second semifinal at Dickinson on Saturday. That matchup with the Blue Jays is set for a 3 p.m. start. Haverford played the Blue Jays to a 1-1 draw when those two sides met in early October on Walton Field.
The Centennial Conference continues to have six of the top nine teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region according to the United Soccer Coaches. Dickinson and Johns Hopkins, the top two seeds in the CC Tournament, hold the second and third spots in the region. Haverford, Gettysburg, McDaniel, and Swarthmore held their respective places at Nos. 6-9, which matches how they order of finish from the regular season. Dickinson and Johns Hopkins are ranked 10th and 11th, respectively, in the national poll while the Fords and Gettysburg are receiving votes. Johns Hopkins and Dickinson rank 10th and 12th overall in the D3Soccer.com poll while Swarthmore adds its name to the list of schools receiving votes.
The NCAA will release its third set of regional rankings during the fall season on Wednesday afternoon which will take into account all matches that have been played through this past weekend. The Fords were ranked sixth in the second NCAA release which ultimately leads up to the selection of at-large bids for the NCAA Tournament.
