READING, Pa. - The Haverford College women's soccer team (4-1) silenced Alvernia (2-3) on Saturday evening, blanking the hosts 2-0 under the bright lights of the Alvernia Turf Field on the campus of Alvernia University.

Just five minutes into the game, Alvernia found themselves with a great opportunity, as a shot from Tayler Flaherty went on frame. However, Lily Buyer stood tall in between the posts, denying the opening opportunity.

Just over 10 minutes later Haverford not only found their first chance of the game, but their first goal of the match as well. Grace Haskell made her way to the box with tons of space, eventually laying it off to Phoebe Garfield. Garfield made her way into the box, slotting a ball to the back post of Brynn Bock's goal. Olivia Daulerio was in the right place at the right time, poking home the finish, to give the Fords a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.

The Scarlet and Black began to dominate possession for the remaining 34 minutes, as two shots on target from Emma Kirk troubled the backline of the Golden Wolves, however, Bock was able to dismay both chances to keep it at a 1-0 game.

The 50th minute saw the first chance of the second half for the Fords, as D'Aulerio broke loose with the ball in the box firing a shot to the near post. The blistering shot had some heat behind it, but Bock made a nice save to deny the second goal of the game for the junior.

Just six minutes later, Alvernia tried to level the game with a shot from Victoria Conway. The menacing shot curled towards Buyer's right, as the junior made a fantastic diving save, pushing the ball out for a corner kick.

Haverford continued to dominate possession throughout the second half, as D'Aulerio finally found her back in the 76th minute. After Ella Manning slashed through the midfield with the ball, she found Lauren Anderson open on the right flank. Anderson whipped in a service back post that was settled down by D'Aulerio. The junior bent a shot underneath the crossbar and into the back of the net, to give the Fords a 2-0 lead.

D'Aulerio's second goal of the contest sealed the deal for the Scarlet and Black, as the Fords left Reading, Pa. with a 2-0 shutout victory. On the offensive side of the ball, Haverford enjoyed a 18-6 shot advantage, steering nine of those shots on frame, as opposed to just the two shots on net for the Golden Wolves.

Defensively, the backline of the Scarlet and Black excelled against Alvernia, denying every chance created by the Golden Wolves. In between the posts, Buyer made two saves off of six shots faced.

Women's soccer will be back in action Wednesday, September 18, at 5 p.m., as the Fords will host the Bulldogs of DeSales at historic Walton Field.
