Women's squash dominates on Senior Day

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's squash team celebrated Senior Day in dominating fashion as they registered 9-0 wins over New York University (NYU) and the University of Rochester at the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center (GIAC) squash courts on Saturday afternoon.

The Fords (6-10) did not drop a game throughout the busy day of action that began with a celebration of seniors Caroline Nightingale and Allison Kandel.

Highlighting the quick win over NYU (1-5) was Emily Berlin's stellar effort at No. 2 against Calixta Lee. Berlin gave up just one point to Lee in an 11-1, 11-0, 11-0 victory. Nightingale, at her regular spot at the top of the ladder, was just as impressive with an 11-3, 11-2, 11-1 win over Michelle Yhantovsky.

Sarah Madigan, at No. 4, and Rachael Garnick, at No. 8, also cruised as they surrendered six and seven points, respectively.

Haverford's dominance continued against Rochester (0-3) as each person in the lineup won in three games.

Sophomore Alyssa Kaden, at No. 7, gave up just seven points in her sweeping victory over Lauren Kemperman while Berlin and Nightingale once again shined at No. 9 and No. 1, respectively.

Saturday marked the final appearance on the GIAC squash courts for Nightingale and Kandel as the Fords gear up for the College Squash Association team championships hosted by Princeton University on February 21-23.
