Women's squash sweeps past Colgate to win second straight E Division title

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Haverford College women's squash team captured its second consecutive E Division title with a 9-0 victory over Colgate University on the final day of the 2014 College Squash Association  (CSA) Team Championships at Princeton University.

The win over the 35th-ranked Raiders (4-8) capped an undefeated weekend for the 33rd-ranked Fords (9-10) as they showed the rest of the division that they deserved the top seed.

The successful weekend also helped Haverford close the 2013-14 campaign on a five-match winning streak while establishing a new program record for wins in a season. The previous record of eight was set by the 2004-05 squad.

The Fords dropped just one game to Colgate over the course of Sunday's dominating performance as eight of Haverford's team points on the day came by way of 3-0 victories.

Senior Caroline Nightingale, at No. 1, and sophomore Bethany Simmonds, at No. 2, led the effort as they surrendered just six and seven points, respectively, over the course of their contests.

Haverford won the E Division in 2013 with a 6-3 victory over Tufts University.

The championship weekend brings the team's schedule to a close but Nightingale will participate in the CSA individual championships hosted by the University of Pennsylvania beginning on February 28.
