Haverford trio competes at  national individual tournament

PHILADELPHIA - Three members of the Haverford College women's squash team competed this weekend at the 2014 College Squash Individual Championships co-hosted by the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University.

Senior Caroline Nightingale, junior Alex Love and sophomore Bethany Simmonds all participated in the Holleran Division for players ranked 33rd or lower in the national rankings.

Playing in the individual championships for the second straight year, Nightingale received a first-round bye before losing to Jacqueline Barnes of Dartmouth College (11-6, 11-5, 11-1). Nightingale was then eliminated with an 11-4, 11-4, 11-6 loss to Brown University's Mina Shakarshy.

Love began the weekend with an 11-3, 11-1, 11-0 loss to Penn's Alisa Agnew on Friday before falling to Smith College's Rachel Newman (11-4, 11-7, 11-2) in consolation play.

Simmonds gained valuable experience during an 11-5, 11-4, 11-5 loss to Columbia University's Alisha Maity. Simmonds' weekend then came to a close against Wesleyan University's Mary Foster (11-1, 11-5, 11-5).
