Squash Sends Players to CSA Individual Championships

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College squash teams will have four representatives participating in the College Squash Association's (CSA) Individual Championships at Princeton University this weekend. Senior Alex Love, juniors Bethany Simmonds and Nathan Vestrich-Shade and freshman Isabelle Gotuaco have earned the opportunity to represent Haverford College at the individual championships that begin tomorrow.

There are four brackets for the CSA Individual Championships. The Pool (men's) and Ramsay (women's) Cups features players from the top 32 teams in the Dunlop College Squash Team Rankings. The Molloy (men) and Holleran (women's) Cups has players from the remaining teams in the rankings. Vestrich-Shade will play in the Molloy Cup while Love, Simmonds, Gotuaco will take part in the Holleran Cup.

Love and Simmonds led the women's squash team with 12 victories on the season. Their 12 wins are two shy of the single-season record. Love had 11 victories at the No. 3 position while Simmonds notched 10 of her wins at the No. 2 position. The duo are two of only nine players in program history to reach 20 career wins. Simmonds' .556 career winning percentage is 8th all-time.

Gotuaco played all 17 matches for the women's squash team at the No. 1 position. The freshman went 8-9 on the season including a four game winning streak (Nov. 15-Nov.22).

Vestrich-Shade went 7-11 during the 2014-15 campaign at the No. 1 position for the men's squash team. The junior has won three of his last four matches and has 19 career victories.

Each player in the CSA Individual Championships is guaranteed at least three matches. Simmonds is ranked 67th in the pool while Love is right behind her (68th) and Gotuaco is 79th. Vestrich-Shade is 75th in his bracket.
