MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Haverford Women's squash team dropped a pair of decisions on Friday afternoon, falling to No. 19 Tufts and host No. 24 Wesleyan by final tallies of 9-0 at the Rosenbaum Squash Center on the Wesleyan University campus. Haverford now sits at 1-4 on the season thus far after playing the first matches of the 2017 portion of the 2016-17 campaign.

In the neutral site matchup with Tufts (9-0), the Fords had success at the top of the ladder as junior Isabelle Gotuaco took Hannah Burns to five games in a strong performance before falling in the fifth of a back-and-forth match while freshman Kaitlin Reese also delivered a standout effort against Claire Davidson, falling in four games.

Against the host Cardinals (5-5), Reese again proved to be a formidable opponent for Wesleyanwe player Abigail Smith at the second spot on the ladder. Reese pulled away in the second game 11-5 and outlasted Smith 12-10 in the fourth game before falling 11-4 in the fifth and deciding game. Olivia Franco took Ali Imperiale to an 11-9 game at the fourth spot on the ladder.
The Fords will continue a busy weekend as the squad returns to action tomorrow at noon against Northeastern at the MIT Round Robin in Cambridge, Mass.
