Women's Squash Opens CSA Championships With Win Over WashU

LAWRENCVILLE, N.J. – The Haverford women's squash team opened up CSA Squash Championships action with a win in E division round-robin play, dispatching the Washington University Bears by a final of 6-3.The Fords are now one step closer to the E Division title match, which will be contested Sunday at Princeton.

Haverford took five of its six wins on the evening with sweeps. At number one, Isabelle Gotuaco dispatched Anjali Vishwanath in straight games 11-3, 11-6, 11-3, playing on the same courts as she did during her high school career at Lawrencville School. 

Kaitlin Reese continued her strong freshman campaign with a win over Michelle Haut (11-6, 11-3, 11-7) at number two, clinching the match for Haverford. Reese pulls her individual record to a team-best 10-5 at the second spot.s

Isabel Agnew, the reigning Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week, had a spirited battle with Misha Hood at the third position, taking the first two games in extra points 12-10 and 13-11 before dropping the third game to her opponent. Agnew came back for an 11-7 win in the fourth.

Mason McNulty pulled past Rachel Wortham at the sixth spot (16-14, 11-7, 11-4) while Anna Kullnigg (11-4, 11-3, 11-3) and Stephanie Lukez (11-3, 11-3, 11-6) made quick work of their opponents at the eighth and ninth spots, respectively.

The Fords will move on to face No. 37 Colgate at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday as round robin play continues. Colgate will be playing the second of two matches on the day when it faces Haverford as the Raiders will also face off with Washington-St. Louis at 10:00 a.m. to begin their round-robin action in earnest.

The Fords captured E Division championships in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
