Season Review: Women's Squash Reaches Division Final

Season Review: Women's Squash Reaches Division Final

Signature wins: Haverford began to hit its stride with four wins in its last six matches of the season. One of the matches that set the tone for the string of success was a 5-4 win at home against Georgetown (Feb. 4). The Fords took down the Hoyas, getting the best of their opponents as Isabelle Gotuaco, Kaitlin Reese and Isabel Agnew all took home wins at the top three spots on the ladder to set the tone.

Haverford beat Boston College (Feb. 11) on Senior Day as senior co-captain Isabel Agnew took a win over Sabrina Didizian in a back-and-forth, five-game thriller for a 4-3 lead at the third spot, helping secure momentum for the Fords in her final day of matches at the GIAC Squash Courts.

At the CSA Squash Championships, Haverford beat Washington-St. Louis (Feb. 24) with a 6-3 win before breezing past Colgate (Feb. 25) with a 9-0 sweep to set up a rematch with Georgetown in the CSA 'E' division final.

Season Notes: Haverford finished the season with six wins, matching its total from a season ago and will take the No. 34 ranking into the offseason … Isabel Agnew finished with 37 career wins, one short of Rachel Kaplan '99, who has the program's career lead with 38 … Freshman Kaitlin Reese had an impressive debut season, taking 12 individual wins for the most by a Haverford individual since Alex Love and Bethany Simmonds matched the feat in 2014-15 … Isabel Agnew took home CSA Harrow Sports College Squash Player of the Week honors on February 15 ...  Agnew is the third member of the Fords to garner the plaudit, becoming the first since Samara Flug took home the award in 2014.

Awards:

College Squash Association Player of the Week: Isabel Agnew (2/15)
Harrow Sports/ College Squash Player of the E Division: Isabelle Gotuaco

Looking ahead: Agnew and Emilia Cobbs graduate for Haverford, but the rest of the ladder will return, including junior co-captain Isabelle Gotuaco, as Haverford looks to take a division title at the CSA Team Championships in 2017-18.
