Women's Squash Falls to Tufts, Connecticut College

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 30 ranked Haverford College women's squash team dropped a pair of decisions at the GIAC Squash Courts on Tuesday, falling to No. 19 Tufts, 9-0, and No. 24 Connecticut College, 7-2. The Fords are now 3-4 on the season after opening up the 2018 portion of the season at home. 

Tufts 9, Haverford 0

The 19th-ranked Jumbos picked up the win at Haverford by sweeping the Fords. At the third spot on the ladder, Maddie Hager took the first set from Hannah Burns, 11-8, in the most competitive individual match of the afternoon for Haverford. Olivia Franco battled Lauren Banner at the sixth spot, rallying from an 11-0 deficit to take eight points from her opponent in the second game and five points in the third game.

Connecticut College 7, Haverford 2

Against the Camels, Hager took a sweep over Molly Carabatsos for a win at the third position (11-7, 11-1, 11-5). Kaitlin Reese also defeated Margaret Davey at the second spot (11-9, 11-6, 11-9). Hager improves to 3-2 in her career at the third position while Reese pulled her overall all-time record to 15-11 in victory. Tia Brown also took the first game from Denise Bonilla at the fifth spot on the ladder while Grace Fioramonti-Gorchow scored nine points in an 11-9 first game loss to Jacqueline Chu. 

Haverford next returns to action on Friday as the Fords head to the Pioneer Valley Invitational. The Fords will matchup with #20 Wesleyan (12:00 p.m.) and #22 Colby (4:00 p.m.) on Friday at Amherst before taking on #25 Hamilton (12:00 p.m., Amherst) and #34 Bard (4:00 p.m., Smith) on Saturday.
