Women's Squash Slated for Epps Cup at CSA Team Championships

CSA Women's National Team Championships Information

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's squash team (7-8) will travel to Cambridge, Mass. for the College Squash Association (CSA) Women's National Team Championships this weekend. The championships are hosted by Harvard and MIT from Friday February, 16 through Sunday, February 18. In total, the championship pool includes 42 teams competing in five divisions. Seeds are based on the latest CSA team rankings.

In the latest CSA release, Haverford was ranked No. 30 and is slated for the "D Division" Epps Cup, a competition featuring teams ranked from No. 25-No. 32 in the national rankings. Haverford is back in the D division after competing finishing as runner-up in the E division a season ago. The Fords have already posted their highest win total since the 2014-15 campaign and will look to add some hardware to a solid season with a division championship in Cambridge.

The Epps Cup also features No. 25 Bowdoin, No. 26 William Smith, No. 27 Connecticut College, No. 28 Mount Holyoke, No. 29 Vassar, No. 31 California and No. 32 Georgetown. The Fords will begin tournament play against Connecticut College at 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Haverford hosted the Camels on January 16 at the GIAC Squash Courts, falling by a final score of 7-2. Haverford has also faced off with potential Epps Cup opponents Vassar and Georgetown this season, falling at Vassar on December 2 and dispatching Georgetown at home on February 3.

The Fords last battled with Mount Holyoke at home a season ago and faced William Smith at the 2016 Pioneer Valley Invitational. Haverford last faced California at the 2011 CSA Team Championships and has not faced Bowdoin since 1997.

Haverford will enter the team championships riding some momentum off the heels of a three-game winning streak. The Fords won both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the GIAC Squash Courts, taking down No. 34 Boston College 7-2 and No. 33 Bucknell, 9-0.

Senior co-captain Isabelle Gotuaco has had the best statistical season for the Fords, posting an 8-5 record including a 4-1 mark at the second singles positions. Gotuaco enters CSA Championship season with 35 career wins, just three victories behind the all-time career total of 38 set by Rachel Kaplan '99.

Sophomore co-captain Kaitlin Reese has also been a standout this season, compiling an 8-7 record while going 5-4 at the top flight and 3-3 at the second flight. First year Tia Brown is also impressing in her debut season, going undefeated at the fourth flight (4-0) thus far.

Live results for all matches and a video stream of select courts at Harvard will be available via the CSA website.
