CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 30 ranked Haverford College women's squash team bounced back from a quarterfinal defeat on Friday, taking a 5-4 victory over No. 31 California in the consolation semifinals at the Murr Center on the campus of Harvard University on Saturday. 

Isabelle Gotuaco won for the Fords at the third flight, taking down Felicia Jordan in four games (3-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-2) for her 37th career individual victory. Gotuaco now has tied Isabel Agnew '17 for second on the all-time wins leaderboard at Haverford. Gotuaco can tie Rachel Kaplan '99 for the overall record of 38 with a win tomorrow afternoon.

Gotuaco also improves to 8-1 combined this season at the second and third flights.

Haverford found success up and down the ladder, with Tia Brown sweeping Olivia Driscoll (11-7, 11-6, 11-5) at the fifth position on the ladder. Grace Fioramonti-Gorchow took victory over Sarabi Rodriguez as the seventh flight (11-4, 12-10, 11-4) while Sophia Jackson defeated Kaitlyn Kang in a sweep at the eight spot (16-14, 11-5, 11-2).

Belen Madariaga picked up a four-game victory in the ninth spot on the ladder, getting the best of Angela Ames after Ames rallied back to steal the third game in extra points (11-7, 11-6, 10-12, 11-5).

Cal produced its scoring with a strong showing at the first two flights as Natalie Leung defeated Kaitlin Reese (11-8, 13-11, 11-1) and Sabreen Abdelrahman showed prowess for the Golden Bears against Maddie Hager (11-9, 11-5, 11-7). Jennifer Rha got past Sunyoung Chai at the fourth flight after the Chai took the first game from her opponent, 11-8 (8-11, 11-7, 11-2, 11-5).

The Fords are now 1-1 all-time against California. The Fords and Golden Bears previously met on February 18, 2011, a 6-3 win for the Bears at the CSA Team Championships at Princeton.

Haverford will wrap up CSA Women's Team Championship action in the Consolation Final on Sunday against No. 29 Vassar. The Brewers got the best of the Fords earlier this season as Haverford made the trek to Poughkeepsie for a pair of matches.  Haverford will look to turn the tide on a neutral court to claim a 2-1 weekend.

The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and will be contested at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center on the campus of MIT.
