HAVERFORD, Pa. - The No. 33 ranked Haverford women's squash team posted a convincing 9-0 victory over No. 37 Bard on Saturday morning at the GIAC Squash Courts. Haverford is now 5-1 on the season following the triumph while Bard falls to 2-9 on the season. The Fords have gone 43-11 combined in individual matches so far this season. 

Haverford made quick work of the Raptors on Saturday, sweeping at each spot on the ladder. Haverford had one of its finest performances in the season during the final match of the 2018 calendar year, and has now extended the program-best start with the first home win of the season.

Urgyen Wangmo swept past Jackie Lerman at the sixth spot on the ladder to start things off for the Fords, allowing just nine total points to her opponent (11-3, 11-1, 11-5). Eva Tamkin grabbed the win at the ninth flight, allowing just eight total points to Justine Zaki (11-2, 11-2, 11-4). The Fords got to a quick 3-0 lead as Isabelle Johnson allowed just six points to Renad Bdair at the second flight (11-1,11-3, 11-2).

The next round of matches followed a similar theme for Haverford, with Sunny Chai taking a hard-fought 12-10 victory in the first game against Rita Bahl before cruising to 11-6 and 11-7 victories to complete the sweep at the fifth flight. Stephanie Lukez then triumphed over Marlaina Yost at the eighth flight, taking an 11-1 victory in the first game before fending off Yost in a spirited 15-13 second game. Ultimately, the decision would go to Haverford in a sweep as Lukez was able to dispatch her opponent 11-3 in the third game, clinching the overall match victory for the Fords.

Shreya Singh won at the fourth position over Nadia Russell in quick fashion, allowing just nine total points (11-2, 11-4, 11-3). Hannah Adler allowed just total four points to Alejandra Guzman at the seventh flight (11-2, 11-0, 11-2), before Maddie Hager dispatched Jamie-Rose Graham at the third flight, allowing just seven total points herself (11-1, 11-5, 11-1). Kaitlin Reese allowed just eight total points at the top flight in a sweep of Olivia Terzian (11-2, 11-5, 11-1).

Haverford improves to 13-0 all-time against Bard in a series that was revived at the Pioneer Valley Invitational last January after 18 years of dormancy.

Haverford will return to action in 2019 at the latest edition of the aforementioned Pioneer Valley Invitational from January 18-20, as the Fords head to Western Massachusetts to face off with Mount Holyoke, Colby, Wesleyan, and Bard over three days of tournament action.
