Virtual Senior Days: Haverford College Women's Squash Class of 2021

 

With the 2020-21 winter sports unable to hold traditional Senior Days on campus, the Haverford College Athletic Department is recognizing these seniors in a virtual ceremony, with some special help from their teammates. Today, we celebrate the careers of Haverford College women's squash seniors Hannah Adler, Tia Brown, and Eva Tamkin


Haverford College Women's Squash Class of 2021

  • Finished the 2019-20 season with 10 wins to equal the most in program single-season history
  • Ranked as high as No. 29 to cap the 2019-20 season, the highest year-end ranking for the program in the last 10 competitive seasons
  • Team won 26 matches and advanced to back-to-back Epps Cup appearances in 2018-19 and 2019-2020 
  • Teams especially excelled at home on the GIAC Courts, going 11-5 during the past three competitive seasons 

Hannah Adler • Psychology major • Pittsford, N.Y. • The Harley School 

  • Compiled an 8-9 record during her three seasons for the Fords
  • Primarily played in the exhibition match slot for the Fords, posting a 7-2 record last season in the #10 spot 
  • Closed the 2019-20 season on a six-match winning streak at No. 10 
  • Won both her matches within the top nine in convincing three game sweeps, taking down opponents from No. 27 St. Lawrence and No. 41 Bard 
  • Began her sophomore campaign on a three-match winning streak with triumphs over opponents from Boston University, Johns Hopkins, and No. 41 Denison

Tia Brown • Biology major • New Haven, Conn. • Hill Regional Career HS 

  • Posted an 8-10 record last season, playing matches at No. 8 to begin the season and working up the ladder to as high as No. 3 for the pivotal CSA Team Championship matches
  • Registered six of her victories last season in three-game sweeps, and notched a four-game victory at No. 3 against Bucknell in the CSA Team Championships 
  • Appeared in all 18 matches as a first year, making an impact right away in the middle of the ladder, apeparing at the third, fourth, and fifth slots
  • Amassed a 9-9 record during that 2017-18 campaign 
  • Recorded a perfect 4-0 mark at the No. 4 spot on the ladder during her first year campaign at Haverford, and went 2-1 in postseason play
  • Her research on Nighttime stomatal conductance among plant functional types was published in the journal New Phytologist

Eva Tamkin • Economics major • Port Washington, N.Y. • Paul D. Schreiber HS 

  • Studied abroad during the entirety of the 2019-20 season 
  • Went 4-1 at the eighth flight during the 2018-19 campaign
  • Began that season with a stretch of of five consecutive victories, going nearly a full month without a loss
  • Excelled against opponents from Denison, allowing just five total points in her two contests 
  • Recorded a win in the CSA Team Championships, outlasting her opponent from Bucknell
