2019-20 Season Review

Signature wins: Women's Squash (10-8) improved to 3-1 with a November victory over No. 30 Vassar, vanquishing the Brewers for the third consecutive time in Poughkeepsie (Nov. 23). Haverford had a strong showing to begin the month of February, winning four consecutive home contests at the GIAC Squash Courts. The Fords took down No. 35 Bucknell and No. 31 Vassar (Feb. 1), before returning with consecutive wins over No. 35 Denison and No. 32 Bucknell on Senior Day (Feb. 8). In the CSA Team Championships, the Fords went 2-1, dropping the opener to No. 28 Colby before rattling off consecutive wins over No. 32 Bucknell (Feb. 22) and No. 31 Boston College (Feb. 23)  to finish the season with a win in the Epps Cup Consolation Final in New Haven, Conn.

Season Notes: Haverford will take the No. 29 ranking into the offseason after finishing as the fifth-place team in the Epps Cup division … The Fords won 10 matches for the first time since the 2014-15 season, equaling the most in program single-season history … Haverford's year-end ranking of No. 29 is the second highest in the last 10 seasons … Senior co-captain Kaitlin Reese will graduate as Haverford's all-time career wins leader, as she finishes with 42 career individual match victories … Senior Sophia Jackson went 14-1 in her individual matches, notching the most single season wins and the best single-season winning percentage in program history (.933).

Looking Ahead: A talented senior class of Sunny ChaiSophia Jackson, and Kaitlin Reese graduate, but Haverford returns formidable anchor Isabelle Johnson (10-7) to the top flight for her junior season, while first years Caroline Smith (13-5) and Maisie Smith (11-7) also both return from impressive first year campaigns on campus with a wealth of experience on the ladder to their credit. Tia Brown (8-10) and Hannah Adler (2-2) both return for their senior seasons while Urgyen Wangmo (11-7) and Shreya Singh (6-12) are both expected to help solidify the ladder in their junior campaigns. After a steady growth in the program's competitiveness within the College Squash Association, 2020-21 figures to be yet another step forward for the Fords.
