Fords take down TCNJ

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Haverford College women's tennis team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 6-3 non-conference victory over The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Monday at the Lake Cane Tennis Center.

Caitlin Gallagher at No. 1, Robyn Himelstein at No. 3, Kate Donches at No. 5 and Abbey Flynn at No. 6 each registered straight-set victories during singles action. A dominating performance from Himelstein saw the sophomore drop just two games (6-2, 6-0) to the Lions' Tara Criscuolo.

Gallagher, Himelstein and Donches also accounted for points for Haverford in the doubles portion of the match. Gallagher teamed up with senior Alex Ferrara at top-flight doubles to earn an 8-4 victory while the No. 2 duo of Himelstein and Donches claimed an 8-5 win over Criscuolo and Katie Butchbinder.

TCNJ, ranked 14th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Region, fell to 7-2 on the season with the loss.

The Fords, ranked 16th in the ITA Atlantic South, continue their spring break trip with a match against St. Lawrence University on March 12.
