Fords dominate singles action on way to 6-3 victory over Stevens

WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Haverford College women's tennis team concluded its spring break trip to Florida with a 6-3 victory over Stevens Institute of Technology on Thursday afternoon.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles, the Fords (3-1) rallied past the Ducks (8-6) with a dominating performances during the singles portion of the match.

Alex Ferrrara at No. 2, Kate Donches at No. 4, Abby Payson at No. 5 and Kristen Andersen at No. 6 each registered 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Earning her first collegiate singles victory, Payson also shined during doubles as she teamed up with fellow freshman Jessica Liu to earn Haverford's first point of the day with an 8-2 win at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Robyn Himelstein accounted for the Fords' remaining point with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.

Haverford returns to action on March 20 when it travels to Wilkes University for a non-conference match with the host Colonels beginning at 4 p.m.
