Fords sweep past Bryn Mawr

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford College women's tennis team picked up its first Centennial Conference victory of the season with a 9-0 victory over visiting Bryn Mawr College at the Gary Lutnick Tennis & Track Center inside Alumni Field House on Wednesday night.

The Fords (4-2, 1-1 CC) were ready to go right from the start as they captured all three doubles contests against the Owls (5-6, 0-2) in convincing fashion. The No. 2 duo of Robyn Himelstein and Kate Donches and the No. 3 pairing of Jessica Liu and Abby Payson each registered dominating 8-0 victories.

Haverford continued to roll in singles as the Fords won all of the singles matches in straight sets. Caitlin Gallagher and Donches, playing at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, were especially efficient as they each claimed 6-0, 6-0 victories.

Himelstein, Payson, and Alex Ferrara joined Gallagher and Donches as winners in both singles and doubles while Kristen Andersen, playing at No. 6, accounted for Haverford's other point on the day.

The Fords get right back into action on Friday afternoon when they take on visiting Christopher Newport University in non-conference action beginning at 3 p.m.
