Ferrara recognized by Centennial for undefeated week

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Centennial Conference recognized Haverford College's Alex Ferrara for an undefeated week on the courts as the senior was named the women's tennis co-player of the week on Monday afternoon.

Ferrara, a native of Skillman, N.J., moved to 10-3 overall in singles action with a pair of straight-set victories in team conquests of Muhlenberg College and Dickinson College on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. Capping the week with a quick triumph (6-0, 6-2) over Dickinson's Sydney Diamond at No. 2, Ferrara extended her singles win streak to eight while helping her squad take down the Red Devils for the first time in three seasons.

Currently ranking sixth in program history in career victories with 54, Ferrara has also made her mark this season as part of the Fords' No. 1 doubles pairing. Ferrara and junior Caitlin Gallagher own a 7-3 record overall in the top spot including 8-5 victories this week over both Muhlenberg and Dickinson.

Ferrara shared the weekly honor with Franklin & Marshall junior Megan FitzMaurice.

The Fords (9-3, 5-2 CC), ranked 10th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic South Region, look for their seventh victory in their last eight outings on Thursday afternoon at Washington College.
