Women's Tennis Ranked No. 15 in Atlantic South Region

ITA Rankings

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team, set to begin its 2015 spring season, received a No. 15 regional ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in the latest Atlantic South release. The Fords have not played a team competition to date. They were ranked No. 14 in the regional rankings during the fall.

Haverford is set to begin the spring schedule this Saturday when Salisbury comes to campus for matches against both the men's and women's programs at Haverford. The women's match will begin at 4 p.m. Salisbury was ranked No. 11 in the Atlantic South Region during this same ranking period.

The Fords and Sea Gulls last met during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Each time, it was the home team that recorded the victory with Salisbury taking the most recent victory by a 6-3 final in 2013 after the Fords were 5-4 winners in 2012.

Coming off its first appearance in the Centennial Conference Championship match during the 2014 season, the excitement for this spring is reflected by senior captain Caitlin Gallagher, "I am very excited about this upcoming season. In the fall and in the off season, we worked very hard to prepare for this spring and our conference matches. The team's hard work, positive attitude and perseverance will no doubt serve us well this year. Armed with our determination and a wonderful mix of veterans and newcomers, I believe we are poised to build on last year's success with another appearance in the conference final."

Following the match at home on Saturday, the Fords make the team's annual trip to Orlando, Fla. While in Florida, women's tennis will play seven matches over the course of four competition dates.
