No. 40 Swarthmore Gets Past Women's Tennis, 6-3

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team took three matches against No. 40 Swarthmore on Wednesday afternoon on the Marshall Tennis Courts. The Fords got a win in doubles and won the final two singles matches to wrap up the day's action.

Jane Bary and Jessica Liu each won tiebreaks to lock down straight sets win in their respective matches. Bary needed extra games in both of her sets during the No. 4 singles match. She won 7-5 in the opening set. After splitting the first 12 games of the second set, the Fords' sophomore won seven of the nine tiebreak points. Bary is now 8-3 in singles this spring with a 6-1 record in Centennial Conference action.

Jessica Liu won her match at No. 6 singles by a 6-2, 7-6 (3) score. The Fords' co-captain is now a perfect 7-0 in Centennial Conference singles during her senior season. Wednesday's victory improves on her team-leading total in victories as she sits at 11-4 in singles entering the regular season finale.

Women's tennis will close out the regular season at home this Saturday at 12 p.m. against Gettysburg. The Fords are currently tied with Washington College for fourth place in the Centennial Conference standings and can clinch home court advantage for the first round match against the Shorewomen with a win on Saturday.
