HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team got wins in singles and doubles from senior co-captains Jessica Liu and Abby Payson to highlight a 7-2 win against Gettysburg on Senior Day. In the process, the Fords (9-7, 7-3 CC) clinched one more home match for their senior class as Haverford locked down the No. 4 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament and will host Washington College this coming Wednesday.

Liu moved up the lineup to No. 2 doubles along with partner Clara Farrehi but still found success with an 8-1 win over the Bullet's middle pairing. Liu and Farrehi matched the team's record with a 7-3 mark in conference action together. They boast an 8-3 record overall.

Payson joined teammate Greta Koch in the pairing's traditional No. 1 slot. Haverford's top pairing doubled up their opponents by an 8-4 score to solidify their fifth win of the spring together. Four of those wins in doubles came against conference foes. Haverford made it a clean sweep of doubles as the Bullets only fielded four players and forfeited No. 3 doubles.

Payson and Liu then capped the afternoon with the team's final two points in singles. Payson did not allow a game as she won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Payson's victory was her sixth of the spring and eighth of the entire year. Liu finished an unblemished 8-0 singles campaign in singles against conference foes. She moved up to No. 4 singles where she was a 6-3, 6-2 winner. She is now a team-best 12-4 on the year in singles action.

Haverford also got forfeit victories at Nos. 5 and 6 singles with the Bullets unable to field a full lineup. At both No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Gettysburg emerged with 10-8 tiebreak wins during those two 10 point tiebreaks for the team's only points of the afternoon.

Women's tennis will now host Washington College in the first round of the Centennial Conference Tournament next Wednesday. The time for that match will be determined on Monday morning.
