ITA Atlantic South Region Rankings
HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's tennis team maintained its spot at No. 13 in the fourth release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Atlantic South Region team rankings. The Fords (7-6, 7-2 CC) have already secured the No. 3 seed in the Centennial Conference Tournament. Next week's tournament appearance will be the Fords third straight and 10th in the past 11 seasons. With the first round bye secured, Haverford has secured its place in at least the conference semifinals for the ninth time in school history.
Haverford has really hit its stride since the start of conference play as the Fords set a program record with 10 straight Centennial Conference regular season victories dating back to the 2018 season before their first to conference defeats to nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins and Swarthmore this spring. All six of Haverford's team defeats have come to nationally-ranked opposition.
Joining the Fords in the Atlantic South rankings from the Centennial Conference are the aforementioned Blue Jays (No. 3) and Garnet (No. 7). Those two schools are currently ranked 14th and 25th, respectively, in the national poll.
Clara Farrehi and Claire Johnson are leading the Fords with seven wins each in singles play. Farrehi has posted a team-best 6-2 record in Centennial Conference play out of the third slot of the lineup. Each of Haverford's regulars in the singles lineup has at least five victories this spring as the Fords have combined for a 35-19 record, a 64.8% win ratio, against their conference foes.
Haverford is also 18-9 in conference singles matches, a 66.7% win mark. The Fords' No. 3 pairing of Sarah Evenson and Johnson is currently leading the way with a 5-1 record in conference action while Ananya Prakash and Natalie Williams also have five CC victories in the middle of the lineup. At the top of the doubles lineup, co-captains Emily Shutman and Farrehi have recorded four Centennial Conference victories.
Women's tennis will wrap up the regular season this weekend with a pair of matches. The Fords will have another chance at a nationally-ranked victory on Friday as the Fords battle No. 37 TCNJ in a 4 p.m. On Saturday, Dickinson will come to campus as the Fords celebrate Senior Day with a match that is slated for first serves at 12 p.m.
