HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Centennial Conference announced its all-conference team this week. The Fords were represented by Emily Shutman as a first-team All-CC performer while Shutman and Clara Farrehi earned second-team all-conference recognition in doubles. In addition to those honorees, Ananya Prakash was named to the Centennial Conference's All-Sportsmanship Team.
Emily Shutman earned first-team honors for the first time in her career after going 6-3 at No. 1 singles during the Centennial Conference schedule. Shutman tied for the team lead with eight singles victories overall. Now a two-time All-CC performer in both singles and doubles, the junior co-captain's season was highlighted by a pair of victories against rival Swarthmore. Shutman downed the No. 22 singles player in the region during the regular season dual meet against the Garnet by a 6-2, 6-2 score. She also accounted for Haverford's point in the Centennial Conference playoffs with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
Fellow co-captain Clara Farrehi earned all-conference recognition for the first time in her career as she joined Shutman in receiving second-team All-CC accolades. Shutman was awarded second-team accolades for the second straight season in doubles. Playing No. 1 doubles together, Farrehi and Shutman were 5-5 in Centennial Conference play. Four of that duo's five wins during the regular season came in matches during which Haverford's captains allowed two or fewer games.
Ananya Prakash was named to the Centennial Conference All-Sportsmanship Team. A regular in the singles and doubles lineups, Prakash won five conference matches in both singles and doubles this spring as she finished with 11 victories in total.
Women's tennis compiled an 8-2 record in Centennial Conference play throughout the regular season and advanced to the Centennial Conference Tournament for the third straight season. The Fords finished with the No. 3 seed following the regular season and were making their ninth playoff appearance of the past 10 seasons. Each of the team's eight defeats this season came to nationally-ranked opponents. Haverford is No. 13 in the ITA's Atlantic South region team rankings.
