HAVERFORD, Pa. - Marking its 2022 home debut, the No. 35 Haverford Women's Tennis team (5-3) certainly impressed in front of the home crowd, taking a 9-0 victory over Stevens (2-4) indoors at the Alumni Field House.

In doubles, Haverford made quick work of the Ducks with the pairing of Rachael Fitzgerald and Anne Tobin looking poised at the top flight to the tune of a 8-4 win over Agatha Malinowski and Audrey Heaberlin while Emily Oh and Mimi Lavin allowed just two games to Alexis Fuda and Isabella Dona at the second position. The third pairing of Abbey Russano and Ellie Esterowitz made quick work of Emma Eguia and Juliette Marchisio, allowing just one game.

In singles play, the Fords did not allow a single game at the fifth flight with Esterowitz grabbing the clean 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Dona. Lavin also blanked her opponent in a set at the third flight, while Oh did the same at the fourth and Summer Williams the sixth.

The number one singles draw was the one spot in which Haverford was really tested strongly on the day, as Malinowski forced a second-set tiebreaker with some strong late games before Fitzgerald prevailed 7-4 in the tiebreak. The Fords improved to 2-0 all-time against Stevens, as the two sides were meeting for the first time since a 2014 spring break trip showdown.

Haverford will open up conference play next week, with a pair of ranked versus ranked matchups. A Wednesday contest at Swarthmore (4 p.m.) serves as a prelude to a showdown with No. 23 Johns Hopkins (11 a.m.) on Saturday.
