HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's indoor track & field team enjoyed success both locally and in New York during a split weekend of competition. The Fords sent three distance runners to Ocean Breeze for the Villanova Invitational while a pair of field athletes competed at Widener.

In New York, Katie Sullivan turned in the 16th fastest Division III time in the 800 meters this season as she crossed the line in a time of 2:17.93 to win her heat. She placed second overall among all Division III entrants in that event on Friday night. Still with room to improve from last year's indoor best, Sullivan's time would have ranked among the top 10 nationally this season but with the converted time sits her 16th in the national rankings as of press time.

Nicole Giannetti and Amelia Keyser-Gibson entered the mile at Ocean Breeze. Giannetti placed fourth among the Division III entrants with a time of 5:10.69. That mark is currently 30th best in Division III when converted due to the track. Keyser-Gibson also turned in a top 50 time nationally as she crossed the line fifth among DIII runners in 5:15.20.

Competing locally, Claire Sargent contested the weight throw for the first time in women's program history. She came up with a toss of 12.33 meters in her first live action to place fourth overall. Louise Bednarik placed third in the pole vault as she cleared 2.15 meters to rank ninth in school history for the event.

Women's track & field will once again travel back to Ocean Breeze, N.Y. for a second straight Villanova Invitational next Saturday, February 4. During that same time, the Fords will also have entrants at the Colden Invitational which will be hosted by Ursinus.
