Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – For the second straight week, the Haverford College women's indoor track & field team had another first time winner of a Centennial Conference weekly honor as senior Nicole Giannetti was named the track athlete of the week. Giannetti earned her accolade after posting the second fastest 5,000 meter indoor time in program history on Saturday.

Giannetti's time in the 5,000 meter race placed her fourth overall in the field of runners at Tufts. That time is just behind Kelley Riffenburgh's '15 Centennial Conference Championship winning time of 17:24.61 during the 2015 season.

Due to the track size, that time was converted to what would have been a school record mark of 17:17.99 and currently ranks her 17th in Division III for the purposes of qualifying to the NCAA Championships. A total of 17 declared entrants will be accepted in each event for the Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in March.

Giannetti is a two-time All-Centennial Conference performer during her indoor track & field career. She was a member of the Fords' DMR championship relay in 2016 and placed second during the 3,000 meter race at last year's conference. She was an NCAA qualifier for the steeplechase during the 2017 outdoor season and was a part of three cross country teams that qualified to the national championship.

Women's track & field will return to action this Friday, February 9 when the team travels to the Armory to take place in the NYU Invitational.
