HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team got the 2019-20 indoor season underway on Saturday inside the Alumni Field House. Despite the limited entrant pool in the team's only meet of the fall semester, the Fords still turned in nine top five performances across their contested events.

Haverford's relays were once again strong right out of the gate as the Fords got runner-up finishes from both the 4x200 and 4x400 teams. Marisa Antinori, Jahsaiah Moses, Ruanna Small, and Jasmine Reed pushed the baton across the line in a time of 1:53.32 during the 4x200 relay. The 4x400 relay saw Lauren Tanel run the anchor leg behind Small, Moses, and Reed as that team foursome in a time of 4:21.95.

The relays highlighted an overall strong day for the sprinters as each of those entrants turned in scoring performances. Antinori was fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.64 seconds. Finishing closely behind her was Naomi Fukuda in the sixth position with a time of 8.86 seconds. Fukuda also competed in the 200 meter dash, placing fifth with a time of 29.53 seconds.

Each of Haverford's individuals in the field events all finished among the top four in their respective events. Moses added to her relay success with a third-place distance in the long jump, marking at 4.84 meters (15'-10.5"). Right behind her was Antinori with her best leap being measured at 4.26 meters (13'-11.75"). Haverford's throwers also filled the third and fourth positions in the final standings of the shot put with Unique Tuberville (10.60m; 34'-9.5") and Mari Horton (10.44m; 34'-3") showing strong in their season debuts.

A sizeable contingent of Fords swept the fifth through ninth positions in the 800 meter race. Tanel (2:38.98) was the first Haverford runner across the line from that group. She was followed to the finish by Edna Creelman (2:40.04), Sophie Schleifer (2:41.98), Marly Banatte (2:49.75), and Grace Pindzola (2:52.77).

Haverford's largest contingent entered the one mile race where six Fords toed the starting line. Ellie Keating led that group to the finish with a top 10 placement in a time of 6:03.33. She was followed closely by Faizah Khan who finished in 11th (6:05.67). Zoe Arditi (6:15.42), Rhea Chandran (6:42.55), Annemarie Wood (6:44.52), and Kristen Min (6:45.30) also contested that event for the Fords.

Women's indoor track & field will now break for the upcoming holiday season as the College heads towards finals. The Fords will return to campus in mid-January and resume competition on Friday, January 17 with the NYC Gotham Cup in Staten Island, N.Y.
