School Record

Season Notes: Jessica Lopez is now a six-time All-Centennial Conference performer during her indoor track & field career heading into her senior campaign after earning two more individual medals during the 2020 championship meet … Unique Tuberville earned back-to-back bronze medals in weight throw after breaking her own school record at the CC Championship … Additionally, Tuberville also set a new personal best in the indoor shot put at the conference meet (36'9") and will graduate from Haverford ranked seventh in that event indoors … Tuberville also graduates as the school record holder in the hammer throw during the outdoor season … Haverford has placed first or second as a team at the Centennial Conference Championships during 19 of the conference's 27 indoor championship meets … The Fords had 22 student-athletes named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, marking the second most of any team in the conference as over 80% of eligible team members (sophomores, juniors, and seniors) earned that academic distinction.

Looking ahead: Six-time All-CC honoree Jessica Lopez headlines Haverford's group of returning athletes to the 2020-21 team as she ranks second in school history in the 60 meter dash, third in the 200 meter dash, and fourth in the triple jump. Haverford also returns three of its four legs from each of the four relays as the 4x200 and 4x400 placed third at the conference meet while also getting fifth place performances from both the 4x800 and DMR. Even before the start of next year's indoor season, many of the Fords will return to competition in the fall cross country season where the team will be looking to get back on the national stage with a strong core of distance runners.

2019-20 Indoor Season Preview

After closing the cross country season with seemingly every individual peaking at just the right time, Haverford will look to carry that momentum indoors for the winter track & field season. The Fords placed fourth at the Centennial Conference Championship meet a season ago, but Haverford has placed first or second in 18 of the conference's 26 indoor championships and will rely on a good balance of returning talent to fuse with a strong incoming class.

Jessica Lopez, who will join the team for the spring semester after studying abroad in the fall, is the most decorated individual as she was runner-up in the conference a year ago in the 60 meters, 200 meters, 4x200 relay, and triple jump. She ranks second in school history all-time in the 60-meter dash and third overall in the 200 meters and was an all-region performer during both the indoor and outdoor seasons last year.

Solidifying a runner-up 4x200 meter relay last year were fellow sprinters Jasmine Reed and Naomi Fukuda who will look for continued success in their sophomore campaigns. Marisa Antinori provides another strong relay option for the Fords as she was part of the third-place 4x100 outdoor relay last spring at the conference championship. Antinori holds the fifth-fastest 60-meter time individually in program history. Fiona Flynn joins Antinori and Fukuda in the jumping events. Flynn was a bronze medalist in the long jump during the indoor championships during her rookie campaign.

Overall, relays have been a strength of the Haverford squads in recent memory as three of the four earned medals at the conference meet last year. Julia ColettiRuanna Small, and Lopez were all on the 4x400 which just missed a medal. Moving into the longer distances, Griffin KaulbachMolly Hawkins, and Jolie Jaycobs ran three of the legs on Haverford's runner-up 4x800 meter relay a season ago while Kaulbach and Coletti joined Hannah Yeakey on the bronze medal winning DMR. Each of those relay legs should factor heavily into Haverford's success in the mid-distance/distance races this coming season.

Continuing to develop their talents in strong showings during cross country, the Fords have a deep mid-distance and distance squad that ranks among the conference's best. Izzy Miller and Angie Petrichenko both scored in the 10,000 meters outdoors while Natalia Cordon just missed a top eight showing. That trio only got stronger this fall on the cross country course. Annie Connolly-SporingSophie Schleifer, and Mckenna Krall each registered scoring performances at the outdoor championship in the steeplechase and will look for indoor success in the distance events. Zoe Arditi just missed joining that group of scorers at the conference meet and returns as a captain to this year's team.

Amalia Axinn provides yet another strong performer in the mid-distance events after an eighth-place showing during the indoor 800 meters last year. Looking to find success on the track, Hannah Doll is already a two-time national qualifier in cross country.

Forming a smaller, but nonetheless impactful throwing team, will be Unique Tuberville and Mari Horton. Tuberville is the school record holder in the weight throw and earned a bronze medal in that event a season ago. Tuberville was also fifth in the shot put during last year's indoor championship and holds the ninth-best indoor shot put in school history. Horton secured her spot as the seventh-best indoor shot putter in program history last winter and scored at the conference meet with a seventh-place mark.

Women's indoor track & field will begin its season this Saturday at home with the Haverford Holiday Meet inside the Alumni Field House in what is the only competition during the fall semester. The schedule ramps up in the spring semester and features three more home meets with the Haverford Quad Meet (Thursday, January 30), the McElligott Invitational (Saturday, February 15), and the Keogh Invitational (Saturday, February 22). The championship season for the Fords begins on Saturday, February 29 as Franklin & Marshall will serve as the host institution of the 2020 Centennial Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships.
