Rainey earns first-team All-Centennial track & field honors for second straight year

LANCASTER, Pa. - Senior Hope Rainey was one of two members of the Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team to earn a spot on the all-conference squad when the Centennial Conference announced its all-league performers on Monday afternoon.

Rainey merited inclusion to the first team for the second straight year by taking first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a career-best time of 10 minutes, 56.43 seconds. Becoming just the second repeat winner in the women's steeplechase in the history of the conference, Rainey crossed the line over 20 seconds faster than the next closest competitor.

Joining Rainey in garnering all-conference recognition was Brittany Steele. Steele sprinted her way onto the second team with silver-medal finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. The sophomore matched the program record in the 100m with a time of 12.39 seconds and then later added another second-place finish in the 200 with a career-best time of 25.86.

Senior Alexandra Ranucci earned a spot on the conference's sportsmanship team.

Sara Patterson and Sophie Moore of Dickinson College were named the outstanding track performer and the outstanding rookie of the year, respectively. Gettysburg College's Katie McCoubrie was recognized as the outstanding field performer and Swarthmore College's Peter Carroll was voted the coach of the year. The scholar-athlete of the year award went to Johns Hopkins University's Chloe Ryan.
