Four Titles for Women's Track & Field at Muhlenberg Saturday

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team claimed four individual titles Saturday at the Muhlenberg Invitational. Katie Sullivan was a double winner as she took both the 800 and 1,500 meter titles. Sarah Wade (5,000 meters) and Maggie Heffernan (steeplechase) also claimed individual titles for Haverford on the track.

Sullivan won her 800 meter race in a time of 2:21.90. Amelia Keyser-Gibson finished fifth in this same event with a time of 2:32.42. Sullivan's 1,500 meter win came in a time of 4:50.98. The Fords had a trio of top four finishers in this event. Katherine Greifeld placed third overall in the race with a time of 4:56.21, while Keyser-Gibson added a fourth place finish in this event (5:00.44).

Haverford claimed two of the top three spots in the steeplechase. In addition to Heffernan's winning time of 11:36.66, Giannetti was third in the field with a time of 12:02.16. Heffernan missed a personal best by four seconds. She is ranked eighth in school history in the event. Her time ranks 24th in NCAA Division III as of press time. Sarah Wade's win in the 5,000 meters came in a time of 18:36.93. MaryKate Cavanaugh was sixth in this event for the Fords with a time of 19:03.94.

In the sprints, Brittany Steele placed third overall in the 200 (26.76) and fourth in the 100 (12.92) meter dashes. Steele also anchored Haverford's 4x100 relay team that placed fourth overall with a time of 52.76 seconds. That relay team included Mairead Ferry, Carolyn Oehrig, and Amy Zamora. Oehrig also finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (16.93). Yue Xiang added a 10th place finish in the mid-distance races by finishing 10th in the 400 meters (1:05.14). That time ranks her sixth in school history in the event.

In the throwing events, Claire Sargent earned a second place finish in the shot put (10.99 meters), while finishing fifth in the discus (31.16 meters). Her discus throw ranks her 10th in school history. Emily Anderson placed sixth in the shot put (9.88 meters) and seventh in the discus (31.05 meters). Natasha Stanley added a top 10 finish to the Haverford shot put as she placed ninth overall (9.15 meters).

In the jumps, Oehrig (9.94) and Elizabeth Reikowski (9.88 meters) placed fourth and fifth in the triple jump. Kimberly Haughton added an eighth place finish in the long jump (4.36 meters), while placing ninth in the triple jump (9.05 meters).

Women's outdoor track & field will next travel to the West Chester Invitational. The meet will take place on Saturday, April 11 beginning at 10 a.m.
