Women's Track & Field Opens Centennial Outdoor Championships

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team opened the 2015 Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday. The Fords claimed 11 points and currently sit in third place overall in the team standings with two events scored.

Scoring for the Fords in the 10,000 meters were two runners. Kelley Riffenburgh led the Fords to the finish line with a third place finish in a time of 38:42.97. Charlotte Lellman was right behind her teammate in fourth place with a time of 38:53.26. Margaret Duffy (41:18.13) and Allison Hacker (41:58.09) placed 12th and 13th in the field of 20 finishers, respectively.

Robin Chernow also contested the first four events of the heptathlon. She is currently in fifth place overall with 2,080 points. Competing in a field of nine athletes, Chernow had the best throw in the shot put with a toss of 11.10 meters. She was also third in the 100 meter hurdles (18.43 seconds), fourth in the 200 meters (29.18 seconds), and fifth in the high jump (1.36 meters). The heptathlon will conclude tomorrow with the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters yet to be contested.

The Centennial Conference Championships will begin tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. with the men's decathlon resuming. The women's heptathlon begins again at 9:30 a.m.
