Women's Track & Field Competes at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Looking to secure qualifiers for the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Haverford sent three runners to compete on the women's side at the Swarthmore Last Chance meet. The Fords came away with two season bests from the meet.

In the 1500 meters, Nora Weathers placed third overall in the second heat and 11th in the field 44 runners as she completed the distance in a time of 4:35.28. Katie Sullivan was just behind her in a time of 4:35.40. Those times rank 33rd and 35th nationally after tonight's meet.

Amelia Keyser-Gibson finished 10th overall in the 5,000 meters on Monday in her attempt to improve her position in the national rankings. Her time of 17:49.08 was eclipsed by her earlier mark of 17:27.94 at the Sam Howell Invitational. She currently ranks 47th in Division III after tonight with that previous personal best.

The top 22 declared athletes in each individual event will qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championship. The Fords will have another chance to chase qualifying spots at the Widener Last Chance Meet which will run on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
