Women's Track & Field Garners USTFCCCA All-Academic Recognition

USTFCCCA Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's track & field team has been named a 2015-16 All-Academic Team as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This marks the 10th time in the past 11 seasons the Fords have earned this honor since the association combined the indoor and outdoor season into one award.

Haverford was one of the women's teams across NCAA Division III that earned a team GPA of 3.10 or higher. Leading the way in academic honors is nothing new to the Fords as they had 12 student-athletes honored on the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll during both the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons.

In addition to the team recognition, the Fords' indoor All-American distance medley relay of Amelia Keyser-Gibson, Kerry Quigley, Katie Sullivan, and Nora Weathers were honored as USTFCCCA Scholar Athletes. To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.30. The student-athlete must also have competed in either the indoor or outdoor NCAA track championships or finished a season ranked in the top 35 nationally in an individual event or top 25 in a relay event.

The Fords' All-Academic individuals were each part of the third place DMR during the 2016 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. That relay was the first to qualify for the NCAA Championship in program history. Also in the indoor season, Weathers ranked 12th in Division III in the mile while Keyser-Gibson ran the 29th fastest 5,000 meter time of the indoor season.

Weathers capped her standout career with the 33rd quickest time in the 1,500 meters during the outdoor season. She was also named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team for the entire track & field season. She finished her standout career as a five-time NCAA qualifier, two-time All-American, and 10-time All-Centennial Conference selection across all three running seasons.
