Claire Sargent Breaks School Record in Hammer

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team opened its season in earnest by sending three throwers to compete at West Chester's Golden Rams Invitational on Saturday.

Emily Anderson earned the highest placement on the day as she was the highest Division III finisher, placing fifth overall, in the discus. Her best throw was marked at 104 feet, four inches (31.81 meters).

Claire Sargent earned a pair of 12th place finishes in both the discus and hammer. Her hammer throw of 99 feet, five inches broke the school record that was previously held by Anderson. Sargent's best discus toss was marked at 94 feet, nine inches.

Unique Tuberville made her track & field debut with a 15th place showing in hammer and 21st place finish in discus. Tuberville's hammer throw was marked at 80 feet, 10 inches. Her best discus throw went 71 feet, four inches.

Women's track & field will continue its outdoor season next Friday and Saturday at Widener's Danny Curran Invitational.
