Multiple Top 10 Finishes for Women's Track & Field at West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Golden Rams Invitational on the campus of West Chester on Saturday afternoon. The Fords' day was filled with numerous top 10 finishers, highlighted by Taylor Murphy coming in first in the 100 meter hurdles.

Murphy finished in a time of 15.44 seconds in the hurdles, winning that event by five-hundredths of a second. She also ran the second leg of the Fords' 4x100 meter relay that finished second only to Millersville in a time of 51.62 seconds. Marisa Antinori, Tess Oberholtzer, and Kerry Quigley were also on that relay team. Murphy also added a 10th place finish to her day in the 200 meters with a time of 26.61 seconds.

Antinori went on to record the ninth best long jump in school history as her best leap of the day was marked at 5.04 meters. She placed fifth in that event on Saturday and was 14th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.37 seconds. Also on that 4x100 relay, Oberholtzer added a ninth place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.55.

Sophie Drew highlighted a strong contingent of middle distance runners for the Fords as she was the top finisher on the team in both the 800 and 1,500 meters. Drew finished runner-up in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:58.11. Mariana Ramirez also turned in a top 10 performance during that event with a time of 5:13.68 to place eighth overall. Drew placed 13th as the highest placer for the Fords in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.55.

Elizabeth Reikowski placed fifth in the triple jump as her best leap was marked at 10.74 meters. The 35 feet, three inch measurement is just one inch away from her outdoor personal best. Grace Mathis recorded a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 10.03 meters. Mathis also added a sixth place showing in the pole vault as she cleared 2.66 meters.

Haverford had three top 10 finishes in the throwing events. Claire Sargent placed sixth in the shot put with her best toss traveling 11.58 meters. The school record holder in the hammer, Sargent placed 10th in that event on Saturday with her best throw of 31.77 meters. Emily Anderson added an eighth place finish to the throwers in the discus with her best toss of 32.09 meters.

In addition to the Fords at West Chester on Saturday, Katie Sullivan traveled to Princeton on Friday evening for one of the Tigers' distance nights. Sullivan competed in the 1,500 meters and placed 14th with a time of 4:47.13.

Women's track & field will head to Widener for the second time this season next Saturday to take part in the Chester Quarry Classic. That meet is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m.
