CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team wrapped up its weekend at the Widener Invitational on Saturday. Braving some rain, the Fords turned in a number of strong showings throughout the heats.
Taylor Murphy was the highest placing Ford on the day as she took third in the 100 meter hurdles. Murphy finished second in her heat with a time of 15.16 seconds. Tess Oberholtzer also placed second in her heat and finished 20th overall in the event with a time of 17.13 seconds. Murphy also took second in her heat of the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.71 seconds to place 12th overall while Grace Pindzola won her heat and placed 52nd overall with a time of 29.65 seconds.
Haverford also turned in a pair of top 10 relays as the 4x100 team of Marisa Antinori, Murphy, Oberholtzer, and Kerry Quigley finished second in the heat and sixth for the event with a time of 51.03 seconds. The 4x400 relay team finished in a time of 4:10.53, which was good for third place in the heat and seventh on the afternoon. That relay consisted of Oberholtzer, Murphy, Katie Sullivan, and Quigley.
Amy Zamora (1:06.62) and Grace Pindzola (1:07.30) placed 46th and 52nd, respectively, in the 400 meters. Zamora was second overall in her heat. Julia Smith finished the 800 meters as she crossed the line in 2:33.06, finishing third in the heat and 35th for the event. Kathryn Correia rounded out action on the track with an 18th place showing in the steeplechase as she finished with a time of 12:52.16 in her event debut.
In the field events, Elizabeth Reikowski led the Fords in both jumping events. She placed 11th in the triple jump as her best leap was marked at 10.36 meters. The Haverford captain was 22nd in the long jump with her best mark of the day at 4.68 meters. Louise Bednarik (9.32 meters) placed 28th in the triple jump, while Antinori (4.55 meters) and Sophia Nelson (4.54 meters) were 29th and 30th in their respective long jumps.
Women's track & field will have two more meets upcoming this week as the team enters final preparations for the Centennial Conference Championships. Haverford's lone home meet of the spring will be on Tuesday with action getting underway at 4 p.m. The Fords will also enter athletes at the TCNJ Invitational next Saturday.
