BALTIMORE – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team opened the Centennial Conference Championships with scoring performances in each of the three events completed on Friday. With eight points after three events, the Fords are tied for fifth place with two days of competition remaining.

Unique Tuberville broke the College's record in the hammer throw during her championship debut. Tuberville's best throw traveled 34.41 meters (112 feet, 11 inches), eclipsing the previous school record by over a foot and her previous personal best by over two feet. She finished the day in seventh and scored two points for the team.

Grace Mathis also set a new personal best in the pole vault as she cleared 2.90 meters. Her newest mark ties her for fourth in school history. Mathis finished in sixth place and added three points to Haverford's score.

In the 10,000 meters, Amelia Keyser-Gibson placed sixth for the Fords' final three points. Keyser-Gibson crossed the line in a time of 39:57.14. MaryKate Cavanaugh (41:12.79), Amanda Glavin (41:17.08), and Allison Hacker (41:48.07) also competed in the event and finished 12th, 13th, and 15th, respectively.

The Centennial Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships will continue on Saturday, starting with the long jump at 11 a.m. and the steeplechase at 12 p.m.
