Women's Track & Field Concludes Widener Invitational

CHESTER, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team got two more scoring performances on Saturday at the Widener Invitational and finished tied for 11th with 15 points at the meet. The Fords' point total matched that of West Chester at the end of competition.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Marisa Antinori, Jessica Lopez, Kat Turner, and Kerry Quigley provided Haverford's best finish of the day as that relay won its heat and placed sixth overall with a time of 51.25 seconds. Lopez also set a personal best time of 12.94 seconds in the 100 meter dash to tie for the seventh fastest individual in school history. Antinori finished that same event in a time of 13.88 seconds.

Haverford's 4x400 meter relay team included Quigley, Lopez, Marly Banatte, and Molly Hawkins as those four placed 10th overall with a time of 4:27.30. Grace Pindzola was the Fords' lone entrant in the 400 meters, finishing in a time of 1:07.65. Louise Bednarik capped a busy day in the 100 meter hurdles (20.54 second), 200 meters (31.26 seconds), and long jump (3.88m). Tess Oberholtzer led the 100 meter hurdle group for Haverford with a time of 16.52 seconds, while Turner finished that event in a time of 16.79 seconds.

The Fords' other scoring performance on Saturday came from Liana Alves in the steeplechase as she was eighth overall with a time of 12:58.68. The 800 meters marked Haverford's largest contingent of entrants on Saturday. Amalia Axinn led that group with a 34th place finish in a time of 2:27.87. Jolie Jaycobs (2:29.05), Banatte (2:30.70), Mariana Ramirez (2:33.36), and Amy Zamora (2:45.87) also competed in that event. Hannah Yeakey was Haverford's top finisher in the 1,500 meters with a time of 5:08.98, while Zoe Arditi crossed the line in a time of 5:25.62.

In the field events, hammer throwers Claire Sargent and Unique Tuberville finished back-to-back in the final standings with their respective best throws of 34.96 meters and 34.16 meters. Mari Horton contested the javelin and had her best throw marked at 25.96 meters. In addition to her times on the track, Lopez placed 20th in the triple jump with a leap of 10.07 meters. Quigley was Haverford's top performer in the long jump with her best mark of 4.76 meters.

Women's outdoor track & field will face a short turnaround as the Fords will host their only home meet of the year this coming Monday with the throwing events set to get started at 3:45 p.m. Action on Johnson Track begins at 4 p.m. Sargent will also compete at the Penn Relays this coming Thursday in the shot put competition, while the team is slated to travel to the TCNJ Lions Invitational next Saturday during a busy week.
