USTFCCCA All-Region release

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team had a pair of individuals named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Mideast Region team. Sophie Drew earned all-region honors for the 1,500 meters (an event she will run at the NCAA Championships this week) while Jessica Lopez was recognized in the 100 meter dash.

Drew's personal best time of 4:30.08 ranked her fifth in the Mideast Region and was good enough to earn her the final qualifying spot for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. The Fords' senior captain posted that time at Swarthmore's Final Qualifier Meet. She is now a three-time All-Mideast Region performer throughout her career, earning one honor during each of the three running seasons. Drew will be making her first appearance at the track & field national championships this week and is ranked seventh in school history for that event.

Lopez has now earned All-Mideast Region status during both of the track & field seasons to conclude her decorated sophomore campaign. She earned all-region status for the indoor 200 meters and finished as the fourth-ranked 100 meter runner on the outdoor surface. Lopez recorded her career-best time of 12.43 seconds during the qualifying heats of the Centennial Conference Championships and now ranks third in Haverford history for that event.

Haverford will wrap up its 2018-19 season this weekend at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships with Sophie Drew representing the Fords in the 1,500 meters. That event is scheduled to begin at 3:55 p.m. this Thursday with the event final to be run Saturday at 12:25 p.m. for the 12 qualified runners. This year's national championship meet will be held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
