Centennial Conference Release

HAVERFORD, Pa. - Junior Nina Mutty registered two double-doubles and fell just two kills shy of a third one in the Haverford College volleyball team's 3-0 week. Mutty's stellar performance led her to be named the Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Week by the league office today.

The Fords took down Franklin and Marshall 3-1 (27-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-23) on Wednesday with Mutty recording 12 kills and a team-high 17 digs. In Haverford's 3-0 win over Gettysburg (25-18, 25-19, 25-17), the junior tied a team-high with 12 kills, was second on the team with 13 digs and finished with a match-high three service aces. During the Fords' 3-0 victory over Baruch (27-25, 25-16, 25-21), Mutty posted eight kills and led the team with 15 digs.

Mutty has eight double-doubles this season and 26 in her career. Her 297 digs ranks fourth in the conference while her 31 service aces and 189 kills are tied for sixth most. She has at least ten digs in every match except for one and has registered at least one service ace in 10 of her last 12 matches.

The junior is the second Ford to win the Centennial Player of the Week honor as her classmate Meg O'Day won the accolade last week. It marks the first time since the 2010 season that Haverford has had two players win the conference's weekly award. Head coach Michele Benoit's team will host conference rival Ursinus on Wednesday and non-conference foe Moravian on Thursday. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
