Volleyball Wins Fourth In A Row, Defeats Ursinus 3-0

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team took down the Ursinus College Bears 3-0 (25-21, 25-9, 25-9). The Fords have won four straight matches and nine of their last ten. During its four match winning streak, Haverford has dropped just one set.

In set one, the Bears held a 14-12 advantage before the Fords scored four straight points to take a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. In the set, Ursinus was held to a -.091 attack percentage and made 12 errors.

The Fords jumped out to an 8-0 advantage in set two before cruising to the victory. Set three was much of the same as Haverford jumped in front 5-0 and 15-5 before finishing off the sweep. Head coach Michele Benoit's squad finished the final two sets with a combined .356 attack percentage while holding Ursinus to a -.116 attack percentage for the match. It marks the first time a Haverford opponent was held to a negative attack percentage since Dickinson last season.

Junior Meg O'Day led the Fords with 11 kills and a .556 attack percentage. It's her 31st straight match with at least ten kills. Junior Nina Mutty had 10 kills and seven digs while freshman Zoe Wong had a team-high 17 assists and junior Keri Godbe contributed a match-high 18 digs in the win.

The Fords improve to 14-7 on the season and 5-0 in the conference. Ursinus fell to 12-7 and 1-4 in conference play. It's the 20th straight time that the Fords have defeated the Bears. Haverford immediately returns to the court tomorrow as it takes on Moravian College in a non-conference tilt at Gooding '84 Arena beginning at 7 p.m.
