HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team posted a sweep of the visiting Elizabethtown Blue Jays on Tuesday night at Gooding Arena, taking the match with set scores of, 25-18, 25-9, and 25-20. The Fords improve to 4-2 on the season with the win while Elizabethtown now sits at 3-6 on the year. Haverford was led by freshman Hailey O'Mara, who tallied 12 kills on 32 swings to go with 10 digs for her first career double-double.

Playing the first of back-to-back nights at home, Haverford started out sluggish, as the visiting Blue Jays were able to get out to a 16-12 lead, forcing a home timeout. The Fords then turned on the jets from there, tying the score at 16-16, leading to an Elizabethtown timeout. The break in the action did little for the visitors as after Mackenzie Garner ended the run with a kill, O'Mara began a setting run that took the Fords to the brink of a set one win at 24-17. Garner again ended the 8-0 run with a kill, but Maddie Becker was able to pin one down for a 25-18 set one victory.

Haverford took the set one momentum into the second as the Fords ran off to an 11-3 start, forcing another Elizabethtown breather. O'Mara recorded one of her four service aces on the night to give the Fords a 14-6 lead and Zoe Wong recorded three straight service aces to stretch the run to 19-9.  A fourth Wong service ace gave Haverford the 24-9 advantage and Natalie Pisch finished it off at 25-9 for a 2-0 lead.

In the third and final set, The Fords appeared to be cruising towards an easy win at 13-3, but Elizabethtown battled back to bring the advantage to just 19-16, forcing a Fords timeout. The Blue Jays cut it even closer at 19-18 before a Kaylynn Mayo block, a Garner attack error and O'Mara's penultimate kill of the night made it 22-18. Pisch posted a kill on a Chelsea Gallagher service and with Amanda Slaughter serving, O'Mara took a feed from Wong and punctuated the victory with her 12th kill at 25-20.

Haverford hit .234 overall, holding the Blue Jays to .069 on the night. Wong tallied 32 assists while Sara Matsumura had a team-high 15 digs from the libero spot. Garner led all Blue Jays with seven kills on 23 swings while Gallagher's 16 digs and Gabby Anders' 19 assists were game highs for the visitors.

The Fords will be back in Gooding '84 Arena tomorrow night as Lancaster Bible comes to town for a 7:00 p.m. first serve.
