RADNOR, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team was defeated 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-17) by host Cabrini on Tuesday evening inside the Nerney Field House. The Fords are now 2-6 on the season while the Cavaliers are also 2-6 after the victory.

Cabrini sprinted out to a 19-9 lead in the first set, but Haverford was able to cut the Cabrini advantage to just six at 24-18 following a kill from Julia Gallagher-Teske and a pair of Cavaliers attack errors. Cabrini took the first stanza 25-18, committing just five errors in the frame.

The two sides were evenly matched in the early part of the second set, with Haverford taking a 10-9 lead before a Cabrini run put the hosts up 18-13. Following a timeout, the Fords got within just four following a Gallagher-Teske kill at 18-14, but Cabrini went on a 7-2 run to take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third, Haverford used a 5-0 run to turn a late 21-11 Cabrini lead into just a five-point deficit, prompting a Cabrini timeout. The run included two service aces from Elena Filograna and an emphatic block from Gallagher-Teske and Sara Hunsberger.

Caroline Baldwin had seven kills for Haverford while Hunsberger paced the visitors with 19 assists. Sara Matsumura notched 11 digs while Isabel Schwam and Filograna added nine.

The Fords had seven total team blocks, with Gallagher-Teske chipping in four to lead the way. Baldwin and Dina Kosyagin had three each. Hunsberger added a pair of rejections.

Matsumura and Filograna each delivered three service aces.

Steph Judkins was a standout for Cabrini, with 17 kills to lead all comers.

Haverford now heads to the Neumann Knights Invitational on Friday in Aston, Pa. The Fords will again face off with Cabrini in the first contest at 4 p.m. before taking on Scranton at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Haverford will face Catholic (noon) and Widener (2 p.m.) to wrap up the tournament.
