Volleyball Welcomes Back Alumnae

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Haverford College volleyball team contested its annual alumnae match on Saturday afternoon at the Gooding '84 Arena, welcoming back six alums for a friendly, yet competitive tune-up on the final weekend before the regular season.

The current squad powered past the alumnae side, prevailing in straight sets despite a valiant battle from the visitors. With the first regular season serve of 2019 rapidly approaching, the contest allowed the 2019 team to work on honing their skills in a game environment.

After the contest, a reception was held in the Gardner Integrated Athletic Center, serving as a chance for the current team to both reconnect with former teammates and make new connections with the returning alumnae. The alumnae team consisted of Jenine Abbassi '12, Sarah Brody '15, Olivia Coburn-Flynn '13, Jeanna Kenney '16, Jordan Scolaro '13, and Zoe Wong '18.

Haverford returns to action on Saturday, kicking off the regular season schedule with the annual Haverford Invitational. Haverford will host Wells (2 p.m.) and Vassar (4 p.m.) on August 31, before returning for matchups with Eastern (10 a.m.) and Medaille (2 p.m.) on September 1 to close out the Labor Day weekend slate.
